This is a complete set of 12 commemorative dinner plates manufactured by Wedgwood (Etruria, England) for the University of Pennsylvania. Commissioned in 1929, these plates were part of a popular "College Series" imported to the U.S. by the renowned firm Jones, McDuffee & Stratton Co. of Boston.
Design: Each plate features a central medallion depicting a landmark UPenn building (e.g., Provost Tower, College Hall, etc.) surrounded by an intricate floral and thistle border that incorporates the university seal.
Color: Classic "Historical Blue" transferware.
Markings: The back includes the specific building name, the "University of Pennsylvania 1929" stamp, the Wedgwood Etruria hallmark, and the importer's seal. It also features an impressed "WEDGWOOD" mark and date codes.
Dimensions: Approximately 10.5 inches in diameter.
Condition: Overall Good Vintage Condition. Eleven (11) plates are in great shape with minimal signs of use or light shelf wear consistent with age. One(1) plate has visible chips (as seen in photo). No significant crazing observed.
